BILL REID RELEASES DEBUT BOOK, FIGHTING BULLIES: THE CASE FOR A CAREER IN PLAINTIFFS’ LAW

September 23, 2025 — Reid Collins & Tsai LLP co-founder William (Bill) T. Reid IV has released his debut book, Fighting Bullies: The Case for a Career in Plaintiff’s Law.

Based on his decades-long experience as a prosecutor and trial lawyer, Fighting Bullies tackles preconceived ideas about the plaintiffs’ bar in Bill’s inimitable, pull-no-punches style. The book examines the role law schools play in funneling students into “Big Law” careers, often setting them on a path to unfulfilling positions in corporate defense firms, without effectively presenting the myriad options for meaningful work on the plaintiffs’ side.

“I jokingly refer to myself as a minority lawyer because I am one of a very rare breed of veteran attorneys who loves what I do,” quips Reid explaining what prompted him to publish Fighting Bullies. “In speaking with law students at top law schools, it became clear to me that they were only being presented with one model for success: a career in a big corporate defense firm or ‘Big Law.’ Considering rates of general unhappiness, addiction and even suicide in my profession, I felt compelled to speak up about my own career path, which has sustained my love of the law and allowed me to reap financial benefits while doing the kind of work I care about.”

Reid co-founded Reid Collins with managing partner Lisa Tsai in 2009 and the firm has grown from strength to strength ever since. Embracing the freedom from conflicts that a boutique firm offers, Reid Collins takes on cases that other firms can’t or won’t, often employing novel uses of case law and securing precedent-setting victories. LAWDRAGON NAMES THREE REID COLLINS PARTNERS TO THE 100 LEADING CAYMAN LAWYERS

Three Reid Collins partners – Craig A. Boneau, Joshua J. Bruckerhoff, and William T. Reid IV – have been selected by legal periodical Lawdragon to its list of the 100 Leading Cayman Lawyers.

In its exclusive look at the nation’s top trial lawyers, Lawdragon has named 14 Reid Collins partners to its 2026 list of the 500 Leading Litigators in America. The list is a who’s who of noted attorneys that have made their mark “representing clients in their most important courtroom, investigative and administrative battles.”

REID COLLINS SECURES SIGNIFICANT SANCTIONS RULING IN FANG HOLDINGS SHAREHOLDER DERIVATIVE ACTION

New York, NY – September 8, 2025 – Reid Collins & Tsai LLP obtained an important victory in the shareholder derivative action brought by Oasis Investments II Master Fund Ltd. on behalf of Fang Holdings Limited against certain former and current directors and officers.

On September 5, 2025, Justice Andrew Borrok of the New York Supreme Court, Commercial Division, granted Oasis’s motions for sanctions, striking the defendants’ answers in their entirety—an extraordinary remedy that New York courts rarely impose.

Over two years into the action, Justice Borrok found that Oasis had established that the defendants engaged in “intentional and willful destruction of documents,” “flagrant and blatant disregard of numerous court orders,” and “deliberate attempts to frustrate the plaintiff’s right to seek relevant discovery.” Justice Borrok’s Order can be found here.

Bill Reid, founding partner of Reid Collins, stated that this was “the most egregious litigation misconduct he had witnessed in his career.”

By striking the defendants’ pleadings, the Court imposed one of the strongest available sanctions for discovery abuse, underscoring the seriousness of the defendants’ conduct.

“This is a significant and well-deserved ruling for Fang Holdings and its minority shareholders that ensures accountability for Defendants’ misconduct and allows the case to move forward toward meaningful relief,” said Aaron Brown, the Reid Collins attorney leading the case.
