BENCHMARK LITIGATION RECOGNIZES REID, TSAI AND MADDEN AS AMONG THE TOP TRIAL LAWYERS IN THE NATION

In its 2024-25 rankings, Benchmark Litigation has profiled the firm’s senior partners – William T. Reid, IV, Lisa S. Tsai, and Eric D. Madden – as among the top commercial trial lawyers in the country.

Reid, who Benchmark Litigation’s editorial analysis describes as enjoying “a far-reaching reputation as an all-purpose trial lawyer equipped to handle any case,” was selected to its list of the nation’s Top 100 Trial Lawyers for the sixth consecutive year.

Tsai, profiled by the publication for successfully leading a “suit on behalf of a partner and co-founder of private-equity entity Emerald Lake Capital Management against several individuals [] alleged to have engaged in a bad-faith scheme to confiscate [her] valuable partnership interest,” was named to its list of the nation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation for the third consecutive year.

Madden was profiled as a Litigation Star for, among other things, successfully recovering $175 million for the Insys Liquidation Trust (successor to Insys Therapeutics), after the company’s illegal off-label marketing scheme led it to bankruptcy. He was described by clients as “a very strategic thinker and extremely thorough.”

REID COLLINS AGAIN CEMENTS POSITION AS INDUSTRY ‘MAVERICK” AND TOP NATIONAL TRIAL BOUTIQUE WITH MULTIPLE BENCHMARK RECOGNITIONS

In its 2025 rankings of the top litigation law firms in the U.S., Benchmark Litigation has again named Reid Collins & Tsai LLP to its list of the “Top Boutique” law firms in the country as well as to its “Top Plaintiff” list, one of only a select few firms in the nation so honored. The firm also received the ranking of “Highly Recommended” (Benchmark’s highest honor) for the state of Texas.

Benchmark describes Reid Collins as a “litigation boutique with a plaintiff-side ethos [that] has crafted itself as a maverick in the world of trial litigation. The firm has strategically expanded from its Texas roots to include posts in the New York, District of Columbia, and Delaware markets. The firm’s calculated five-office footprint has amassed national recognition, notably for its high-stakes commercial and bankruptcy litigation.”

Earlier this year at its annual awards ceremony, Benchmark named Reid Collins the U.S. Bankruptcy Firm of the Year, besting a selection of the nation’s top Big Law corporate defense firms. Reid Collins was also a finalist for the U.S. Plaintiff Firm of The Year, for the sixth consecutive year.

Benchmark’s “Guide to America’s Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys” identifies the leading U.S. trial attorneys and firms at the local and national levels. The publication’s rankings and editorials are the result of extensive interviews with private practice lawyers and in-house counsel.

TEXAS LAWYER NAMES REID COLLINS PARTNER KEITH COHAN 2024 PRO BONO ATTORNEY OF THE YEAR – TEXAS LEGAL AWARDS

Texas Lawyer and Law.com named Partner Keith Y. Cohan the 2024 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year at the Texas Legal Awards Dinner in Dallas on October 15.

The award recognizes a lawyer who has had inspiring success in a pro bono case or who has dedicated a notable amount of time to pro bono work and achieved meaningful results. In partnership with the ACLU of Louisiana’s Justice Lab Initiative challenging discriminatory policing, Keith represents Teliah Perkins and her son De’Shaun Johnson in civil rights cases
arising from the violent arrest of Ms. Perkins in her own driveway for alleged minor traffic violations. At De’Shaun’s May 2024 trial in Louisiana federal court, Keith—along with Reid Collins attorneys Ryan Goldstein, Emma Culotta, and Sean Johnson—obtained the first jury verdict victory in the history of Justice Lab, winning a $185,000 award for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

REID COLLINS & TSAI WELCOMES NEW ASSOCIATES ALEX RIGBY, JULIA GOKHBERG, AND SETH ROYE

October 2024 – Reid Collins & Tsai LLP is pleased to welcome three new associates to its nationally recognized team of commercial trial lawyers:

Alex Rigby, a 2023 honors graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, joins the firm’s Delaware office after clerking for Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick in the Delaware Court of Chancery. In law school, Alex was the Featured Content Editor and on the Editorial Board of the Texas Law Review and Executive Editor of the Texas Review of Entertainment and Sports Law. He also interned for the Hon. Lee Yeakel in the U.S.D.C., Western District of Texas and was a summer associate and clerk at several prominent firms – including Reid Collins – during law school. Prior to that, Alex taught French at the Charter School of Wilmington and worked in news technology at Dataminr in London. Alex obtained his B.A. with distinction at the University of Virginia as a full merit Jefferson Scholar and Echols Scholar in Economics and Government.
Julia Gokhberg joins the firm’s Austin office after receiving her J.D. from Stanford Law School with Pro Bono distinction in 2024. At law school, Julia was the Symposium Editor of the Stanford Law Review Vol. 76, Co-President of SLS First Generation & Low-Income Professionals (FLI), Events and Communications Chair of SLS Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Association (PLA), and the John Hart Ely Prize recipient for Outstanding Performance in Employment Discrimination. During law school, she was a summer associate at several prominent plaintiffs’ firms including Reid Collins. Before attending law school, she was the Employees’ Rights Litigation Manager for a plaintiffs’-side employment discrimination boutique in New York City. Julia is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Swarthmore College where she obtained her B.A. in Economics and Political Science and was captain of the women’s tennis team. She is also on the board of the National Plaintiffs’ Law Association.
Seth Roye has joined the Austin office of Reid Collins. Seth received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law in 2024, where the Texas Law Review published his student note. While in law school, he served as a teaching assistant for first-year Property classes and participated in interscholastic moot court and mock trial competitions—winning a moot court competition twice. Seth was also a summer associate at several top law firms including Reid Collins during law school. Upon graduation, he was elected to the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Barristers. Prior to law school he worked at ExxonMobil in multiple capacities as an Engineer and Manufacturing Coordinator. Seth earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University, where he graduated summa cum laude.
